So who’s doing the QA/QC at Microsoft?

by Chris on January 1st, 2009

Edit: All fixed with the roll over to 2009

So almost everyone that bought a Zune 30 since they were released since in November 2006 had a little surprise waiting for them if they powered up their Zune today (like me!).

Due to a bug in the firmware, most Zune 30′s that were turned on today would not boot! They simply sit there with a loading bar which is not going to move. It turns out that some error with the timing driver has caused this bug… oopsie!

The good news is that once everyones battery drains (which is not that long with a zune) and the the new year rolls over, they will start all working again as they will reset themselves and when plugged into a PC will set themselves to a day in 2009 which won’t cause the unit to hang.

Hey, at least they now have until 2012 to fix this for next time!
