LPGA
Today I went to the McDonald’s LPGA Championship Golf at the Bulle Rock Course in Maryland. I am currently in Maryland working with Gap Geo doing technology demonstrations.
We were lucky enough to be staying at the same hotel as Karrie Webb’s (Mike Patterson) and Brandie Burton’s (Tanya Patterson) caddie’s. We even had the pleasure of having beers with Brandie, the caddie’s and another pro golfer, Kate Golden. They hooked us up with four guest passes to the golf and a parking voucher for Lot 1 which was the player parking right by the club house. We were also lucky enough to get some golf balls and a glove autographed by the two.
We wondered the course initially while we waited for 2:17pm. 2:17 was the time that Karrie Webb was teeing off. She went into today tied for third being two shots off the lead.
Webbie had a bunch of great shots (Even her bad ones make my best shots look like rubbish). She did have one bogey but we were at the beer tent and missed it. It was the only bogey she had for the day so obviously she missed her Aussie cheer squad.
Karrie finished the day on 67 (Par is 72) for a total of 275. Unfortunately Suzann Pettersen (not a typo
) finished with 274, beating Webbie by one.
It was a really fun day and it is absolutely amazing to watch the players land the balls with such accuracy. If it is 172 yards to the pin, they aim to hit exactly 172 yards, not +-10-20 like a non-pro golfer. It is also amazing how they cope with the pressure of the game, the spectators and the other competitors.
