Back from the Road
The last two weeks I have flown over 2000 miles and driven over 1200 miles. You could say that I have been busy
The week of the 13th was spent down in Pensacola, Florida working at the Barrancas National Cemetery.
We were reacquiring anomalies from a survey we did there in January 2006.
While we were down there enjoying the Florida sun, North Eastern USA got pounded with a snow storm which left up to 1 foot of snow in and around Hershey. This played all sorts of problems with the airlines and some concerns were raised about getting flights home.
I was thinking that it would all be ok as we were connecting through Atlanta. Atlanta is south enough that it would not get any snow. Harrisburg Airport is pretty good about ploughing the runways and keeping it open so I not have a concern about that. We did end up running into dramas but it was actually caused by the plane coming into Pensacola requiring maintenance and nothing to do with the weather. We missed the connection in Atlanta due to this but were able to get out on the next flight as a standby passenger. The flight was fully booked (overbooked by 1 actually) but a family of four that were checked in did not make it in time and they lost their seat allocation.

I spent this week driving to and from Blue Ridge, Georgia. It is a long haul drive with it being about 600+ miles each way. I was down there with Alex working for a company that bottles spring water. The water they produce is excellent and demand exceeds supply. We were there to help with that with our mission to find a high yield source. The site was beautiful and I took a whole bunch of pictures.
I did try to go “arty farty” with some of the pics so I hope you like them.
