Diversity
This week as the title suggests has been a diverse one for me. On Monday morning I headed into work as usual. After getting settled etc I learn that one of our clients has been on the phone and need some more Gravity work done.
After returning home to change and receiving some additional training, it was off to Maryland to conduct the survey. It took into the late night (or early next morning) to get where we needed to be for that day. We returned on Tuesday to finish up and so some surveying. After it was all done, it was back to Hershey for a 9PM arrival.
Wednesday I was out in Lancaster doing an EM-31 survey. I have not used one of these since Uni and it was good (in a strange, messed up way) to see the beast again. This time though, it was not me with a handheld GPS and a notebook writing down each stations information, but we had a data logger which did all that for me. Wish I had one of those 3 years ago!
Today (Thursday) and Friday I will be in Denver, Colorado. It is a bit of a change of pace as I am not doing field work but more administrative stuff. The view on the flight in was spectacular. The contrast in the snow covered fields was fantastic. The detail with the shadows was great.
Last night I won an English writing competition which was run by Oxford University. Yes yes, it was a dream but it was fun. For the prize, we all went out and had lobster tails (No, I was not drinking before I went to bed
). The prize was for a piece about “how do you say hello and why?” I have sort of been thinking about it since and saying hello does reveal a lot about a person. Sometimes you get those fake, manufactured hello’s which need a good dusting off but other times you feel it has more depth to it.
Anyway, next week in diversity I am off to Virginia for three days for a TM-6 mag / Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) job. Should be fun.
